Linda Marie Furiate’s Cervical Dystonia Encouragement Group

Hello Friends with Cervical Dystonia,

Welcome to September. It is time to get back together as a group so that we may all encourage each other.

Summer always seems to fly by with our own personal adventures and family gatherings. I utilized the time to seek new ways to improve my dystonia, quiet my mind (which is easy to do), take extra-long walks capturing all that nature has to provide, visiting family and my childhood home. It felt comforting to get back to my roots.

I am often inspired by the many projects and adventures my dystonia friends are involved in. Please feel free to share your ventures with me and I will share them with our group. If you have a book, or course, speaking engagement, musical adventure, or something else that is dear to your heart, let us know. To me, this is another form of encouragement to support one another. Below Robin Toniny and Alicia Simmons share their adventure.

My next Encouragement group meeting will be on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm ET.  I will email the Zoom link a couple of days before this date.

As a reminder, the goal and purpose of my group is to offer hope, motivation, encouragement and community, as we each seek to ease the physical and emotional burden of living with cervical dystonia.

Please feel free to reach out anytime. I always enjoy hearing from everyone and to learn how you manage and cope with your cervical dystonia. Email me anytime at LMFuriate@gmail.com

Warmly,
Linda Marie

The group is geared toward the like-minded and for those who want to play a central role in their own healing (even when that includes the typical traditional medical modalities for cervical dystonia). Everyone who attends will have a voice.

Potential topics will include philosophy for living, self-acceptance, astrology, and ‘what is the purpose of this (dystonia) in my life.

Linda has been an advocate for dystonia since 1996. There are numerous articles and TV segments with her promoting awareness. Winner of BOTOX® Dreams Contest. Creator of STEP (Spasmodic Torticollis Exercise Program).

Hello Fellow Friend with Cervical Dystonia:

I have been living with cervical dystonia since 1995. Over the years I have learned a lot about myself. I have also learned much about healing the body, mind and ‘soul’. I am quite thankful to be able to share my thoughts and feelings about living with dystonia as posted on my blog. Cervical Dystonia | Creating Positive Addictions (wordpress.com).

There are many wonderful support groups to help those of us who live with cervical dystonia whether they be in person groups, online or forums such as Facebook. Most of these groups tend to focus on treatment options, and/or learning about the newest medications and surgical techniques to help ease symptoms. All of this is wonderful and necessary.

I am in the process of forming a new support group that is not affiliated with any of the dystonia organizations, medical facilities or medical personnel who treat dystonia. This new group will be more focused on Self. My intention is to focus more on the emotional and spiritual healing we may be in search of. The group will only be in live meeting form, so the space will be safe from online verbal confrontation. I imagine the group to be small.

The support group is geared more toward the open-minded and for those who wish to play a central role in their own healing (even when that includes the typical traditional medical modalities for cervical dystonia). In this support group everyone who attends will have a voice, in the hopes that all thoughts will be kind and considerate. The group will be non-scripted although the focus will be on emotional healing. My intention is to end each session with a sense of empowerment as we continue to move about our daily journey.

Topics of discussion will include, but not limited to philosophy for living, psychological aspects to include self-acceptance, astrology, and things like ‘what is the purpose of this (dystonia), and my/your life in general. My hope is that we all feel it is okay to look within to find a source to heal.

I am curious if there is a market or desire for this and if so, could you see yourself wanting to attend an online support group (Zoom) that may offer this type of support. Feel free to respond to this email with your thoughts (please be kind – I know this is not for everyone).

I came into this life of mine to heal – I find the best way to help me heal is to offer my knowledge and wisdom to help others heal. I feel that by sharing our kindhearted and insightful thoughts – we all win. I am proposing a Zoom time slot of around 6:30 pm ET (USA) on a Wednesday.

I look forward to the first gathering sometime in the spring of 2023. Please email me at lmfuriate@gmail.com to let me know if you might like to be a part of this group.

Look forward to your feedback. Again, be kind – I am a Libra 😊

Most sincerely,

Linda Furiate
