NSTA and PMDF MOVE TO MUSIC Dance Fundraiser
The Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Foundation (PMDF) and the National Spasmodic Torticollis Association (NSTA) are partnering up to raise funds for research. We are hosting the first MOVE TO MUSIC Dance Fundraiser.
Dance can improve mood, increase range of motion, enhance body awareness, reduce anxiety, and enhance overall emotional well-being.
Join us at this casual, fun, family-friendly fundraising and awareness event in Fountain Valley, California. Challenge yourself to dance for 60 minutes, dance to one song, or sit in a chair and move your torso and arms to the music.
The dance will be led by Oleg Suvorov, of Dance All You Can. Oleg Suvorov, a native of St. Petersburg, Russia, naturally gravitated toward ballroom dance when his mother enrolled him in lessons at the age of 7. During his youth career, he won city and regional dance competitions and was a finalist at the national level. In1991, after a hiatus from competitive dancing, Oleg decided to move to the United States, where he returned to dance as both a professional competitor and instructor. In 1993, Oleg officially began his professional competitive career, winning several Rising Star events with his partner at the time.
In 1996, Oleg teamed up with Tatiana Pavlova. Together, they became one of the nation’s most notable professional dance teams. They won numerous open professional events throughout the U.S., including prestigious titles such as US National Professional Grand Finalists in 2001, 2002, and 2003, and World Cup Finalists in 2003 and 2004. They also claimed victory in the Ballroom Overall category at the Ohio Star Ball in 2002. After retiring in 2005, Oleg and Tatiana shifted their focus from their professional careers to teaching and competing in Pro/Am events with their students, as well as judging. Teaching has been Oleg’s passion ever since. “At this point in my life, I can’t imagine doing anything other than teaching people to dance. I believe teaching is one of the very few professions where you can positively impact someone’s life, whether they are 5 or 105. It brings me great joy.” – Oleg
The environment is movement disorder-friendly, where you choose how much you want to dance or to move. After the dancing, enjoy lunch provided by Katella Deli in Los Alamitos.
